The honest short answer
Pick your night first — it sets your price and your closing time — then book a room if it is a weekend, and put a physical ID in every adult’s pocket. The Chamber runs a 100% ID check at the Festhalle door, and the season runs nightly through Sunday, November 1.

With kids
The Chamber calls Oktoberfest a family friendly event: under-6s enter free, ages 6–12 pay $5 Monday–Thursday and $7 Friday–Saturday, and Sunday afternoons are free for everyone with a 1–7 PM window that ends well before late bedtime. Leave the dog at the hotel — pets are not allowed in the hall.
What an October evening asks of you
Helen sits in the mountains, and October evenings cool off fast once the sun drops behind the ridge. Layers over fashion; the Festhalle is an indoor facility and the fest is held rain or shine, but the walk in is outdoors.
The rest of the village
Give the downtown shops time before doors open, especially on a Saturday when the hall opens at 1 PM. Our schedule, weekday-vs-weekend and parking pages carry the sourced detail for each decision.
