The village between festivals
Oktoberfest is Helen’s best-known event, but the reasons people buy here are year-round: a walkable alpine-style village on the upper Chattahoochee, Unicoi State Park just northeast of town, and a small-town community in the North Georgia mountains.
The areas around town
In-town Helen means walking to the Festhalle and the river. North of the village, the valley toward Robertstown and the Unicoi State Park turnoff feels wooded and quiet. East across the ridge, Sautee Nacoochee holds farm valleys and the historic Nacoochee mound area. South on Highway 75, Cleveland is the county seat side of everyday life — groceries, schools and services. This page is a first look; we are expanding it with sourced detail on neighborhoods, schools and commutes.
